JACKSON, Mich. — Jackson Police are helping local families put Thanksgiving dinner on the table this year.
The department’s annual Turkey Drive-Thru is set for Wednesday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at the American 1 Convention Center on West Ganson Street at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.
The event is open only to Jackson residents — no sign-up needed. Families can simply drive through the fairgrounds using the North Blackstone Street entrance, where officers will hand out free turkeys, one per vehicle, while supplies last.
This year, in partnership with Walmart, the department plans to give away 300 turkeys.
The effort is part of the department’s Group Violence Intervention strategy, aimed at building stronger ties between officers and the community — especially during the holiday season.
