JACKSON, MI – Jackson Public Schools received high marks for its finances and took steps to strengthen its cybersecurity at this week’s school board meeting.
An independent audit by Maner Costerisan showed the district ended the 2024-2025 school year just $3,500 ahead on its nearly $78 million general fund budget — a result auditors called exceptionally accurate. The district’s general fund balance sits at just over 21 percent, close to the statewide average, signaling solid financial health.
The board also approved renewing its cybersecurity contract with Arctic Wolf, the firm hired after a 2022 ransomware attack shut down district operations. The new 42-month agreement costs just over $322,000 and will be paid through the general fund. The services include network protection and employee training to prevent future cyber threats.
