Jackson, MI (WKHM) — The Jackson County Board of Commissioners have approved the signing of the authorizing resolution for a $487,000 Community Development Block Grant application that, if awarded, would serve low and moderate-income Jackson County households with homeowner rehabilitation.
The grant permits residents meeting the income threshold to apply for grants ranging from $10,000 to $40,000 (amounts over $10,000 are loans and are forgivable after 5 years with LIENs placed on homes).
In addition to the completion of a full application, a public hearing is required to take place to ensure public awareness and input regarding proposed CDBG-funded activities.
With the approval of the agenda item, a public hearing on this matter has been scheduled for the board’s next Study Session on June 2, which begins at 8:00 a.m.
The County previously applied for the CDBG Grant Application in September of 2025, however the final application was not approved.
