Adrian, Mich. (WKHM) — A man could be facing criminal charges after it was claimed he threatened to “shoot up” Adrian College, causing a brief lockdown.
On April 1 at approximately 7:20pm, officers with the Adrian Police Department (APD) were dispatched to the college after reports of an individual in a ski mask who was threatening to “shoot up the school”.
Responding officers quickly set up a perimeter and were able to review surveillance footage depicting the involved individual, a man who was already known to law enforcement.
The individual was located and searched, with police officials saying that no weapons were found and no injuries occurred.
APD’s preliminary investigation indicates this was an isolated incident that occurred following an argument between this individual and a passerby near the Adrian College roundabout.
Officials say there is no threat to the public, college, or surrounding businesses. The police report related to this incident is being submitted to the Lenawee County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review and possible criminal charges.
The APD was assisted by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, Adrian Charter Township Police, Michigan State Police, and Adrian Fire Department.
