Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Kelsey A. Guernsey reports that on Monday (March 16), 37-year-old Ashley Abbott was arraigned by District Court Judge Michael Klaeren on one count Larceny by False Pretenses over $100,000.
The charge stems from an Office of the Inspector General investigation into Abbott regarding the overissuing of childcare payments from Department of Health and Human Services.
The investigation outlines almost four years of fraudulent reporting resulting in an over issuance of more than $100,000 of Child Development and Care Funds.
The issue originates from Abbott allegedly claiming to work during hours that she did not work and receiving payments from the state for those hours.
Abbott was arraigned by Judge Klaeren and given a personal recognizance bond. She is scheduled return to court on Friday March 27, at 1:00 p.m. for a probable cause conference.
