Community leaders and residents gathered Thursday at the Commonwealth Commerce Center for Jackson’s third annual State of the Community event.
The meeting highlighted progress across the city and county while looking ahead to the new Drive Jackson 20-year vision plan. Leaders also discussed several projects expected to move forward in 2026, including a grocery store on Jackson’s south side and redevelopment of the Hayes Hotel downtown. City Manager Johnathon Green said the Jackson Community is strong and collaboration will only make us stronger.
County officials say continued growth will depend on strong partnerships between government and the private sector, which helps fund many local development efforts. County Administrator Mike Overton highlighted some of the projects the county has on the horizon and also commented of the strength of our community.
Leaders say future priorities include deeper collaboration with businesses and schools, along with exploring new technologies like artificial intelligence to support operations and education.
