New downtown parking rules in Jackson take effect March first following months of public feedback and debate.
City leaders revised the plan after more than 15 hundred residents signed a petition calling for changes. The cost of a daily pass has been lowered from 10 dollars to 7, replacing the previous tiered system. Parking enforcement will now end at 5 p.m., instead of 6, with no enforcement on Saturdays or Sundays.
Monthly rates for parking structures will start at 30 dollars, while other long-term lots will cost 55 dollars per month. Two-hour free on-street parking will remain in place downtown, and two lots will offer free all-day parking.
