Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Authorities with the Jackson Police Department (JPD) are investigating a shooting that took place this past weekend at the intersection of Prospect Street and Merriman Street.
Police Chief Christopher Simpson reports that on January 31, at approximately 12:13 a.m., officers were originally dispatched to a Henry Ford Jackson for a shooting victim.
A preliminary investigation showed that the shooting occurred at the intersection of East Prospect St and Merriman Street.
The suspect vehicle was stopped near the intersection and shot at the victim’s vehicle as it drove through the intersection going east on Prospect Street with a driver and passenger in tow.
One bullet struck the passenger, a 24-year-old Jackson woman, in the chin area of her face. The victim was transported to Henry Ford Hospital where she was treated and released. The driver, a 35-year-old Jackson woman, was uninjured.
The suspect vehicle was last seen by police traveling south on Merriman St. The investigation is ongoing to determine cause.
