Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Local librarian Nathaniel Arndts (pictured above from the Jackson District Library) with the JDL was recently given the Community Impact Award by the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society.
Arndts spoke with WKHM reflecting on the award, saying that it was an honor to be recognized by those who hold the importance of Jackson’s history in high regard.
Arndts says that his passion for history started before he arrived in Jackson, beginning during his time living in Albion.
With his position at the JDL, Arndts says that connecting people to the history that surrounds them comes with the job.
According to Arndts, the JDL is working on a new way to digitize artifacts from Jackson to help better archive and publicly display the community’s history.
For other individuals looking to get involved with the process of preserving and archiving local history, Arndts recommends reaching out to local organizations with similar goals.
