JACKSON, Mich. (WKHM) – The Jackson community is mourning the loss of a Jackson High School student following a tragic crash early Sunday morning on U.S. 131 in Allegan County.
According to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department, a woman driving the wrong way on the highway collided head-on with another vehicle between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. The wrong-way driver died, along with two people in the other car — one of them identified by Jackson Public Schools as 2025 graduate Marcell Oliver.
Another Jackson High senior, Amir Hicks, was also in the vehicle and is recovering after surgery. A third victim, who once attended JPS in elementary school and still has family in the area, also lost his life.
