Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Authorities with the Napoleon Township Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the 6200 block of Brooklyn Road at around 1:47 a.m. Sunday morning (October 26) for a structure fire with heavy flames observed.
Crews arrived to the scene to find significant fire conditions with three vehicles parked in the driveway.
Simultaneous search-and-rescue and fire suppression efforts were conducted. Two victims, identified by authorities as 76-year-old Sandra Miracle and 50-year-old Susan Miracle, were pronounced deceased at the scene despite first responders’ actions.
A dog was successfully rescued from the blaze and was transferred to Jackson County Animal Control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with officials saying further updates will be provided when available.
Other on-scene agencies included the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety, City of Jackson Fire Department, and Columbia Township, Grass Lake Charter Township, Liberty Township, Manchester Township, and Summit Township Fire Departments.
Jackson Community Ambulance, Consumers Energy, and the Jackson County Disaster Area Response Team also provided on-scene assistance.
The investigation into the fire is receiving assistance from the Michigan State Police and the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
