Summit Township Road Millage on November Ballot

Share: Copied!

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Summit Township residents will vote on a road millage for the township on the upcoming November ballot.

The proposal is a 0.5 mill increase that would last ten years for the purpose of maintaining and improving local roads.
Township Supervisor John Griffin gave some background context as to why the measure has been put on the ballot.

Supervisor Griffin also described the type of work that the dollars would go to.

The recently passed state budget does provide some funding to townships for local road repair, meaning that Summit Township could have some flexibility when it comes to how much of the half mill would be levied if the proposal passes.

If passed, the millage would be expected to raise up to around $445,000 for road maintenance and improvements this fiscal year.
